This summer the performing arts is still thriving in Fort Collins with socially distant performances and a Silent Film Festival.
Looking for a fun and safe way to enjoy the last days of summer? LuneAseas is proud to present a Silent Film Festival.
The festival will feature live music creation to classic silent films, a shadow performance from LuneAseas, a shadow creation booth, interactive movement games, and over 15 short films from professional dancers, musicians, circus performers, independent filmmakers from Northern Colorado and across the country.
Each short film will be paired with local or independent musicians to create a musical backdrop for each film.
“Our goal for these performances is to reach out to audiences in Northern Colorado and across the country. LuneAseas wants to show people that the independent performance community is thriving even in challenging times. We also want to give the public a well deserved reprieve from everyday life , says director Leah Casper, “LuneAseas wanted to be able support as many performing artists and musicians as we can during this hard time in the entertainment world.”
The festival will debut new works and collaborations from over 20 musicians, film makers, and movement artists from across the country. Featuring new films by Sarah Tallman of Wonderbound, Krystal Butler of Pilobolus, Jade Primicas of MOMIX, Andie Mock of the Dancing Ear, Emma Kimball, Spectra Circus Entertainment, In the Wings, aminibigcircus, Six Degrees Dance, Front Range Contemporary Ballet, Dance Express and more. The festival will also show music collaborations with Rhythm Train, Russick Smith, Dave Heumann of Arbouretum, LuneAseas members, Rae McAlister, Graham Miller of the Dead Jam House Band and more.
The festival will debut live at the beautiful and eclectic Lyric Cinema’s outdoor theatre August 21st at 7pm. This event will have a limited number of tickets, and will practice all required safety measures. This festival will also be streaming online August 21-28th. For more information on the artists involved please go to: www.luneaseas.org/silentfilmfestival
This event has been made possible by LuneAseas, City of Fort Collins Fort Fund, the Bohemian Foundation, and generous friends and donors.
